About Sollis Health
Founded in 2016, Sollis is a healthcare services business that is revolutionizing emergency medicine and urgent care. Our 24/7 concierge medical centers can handle acute medical urgencies and emergencies, advanced imaging needs and simple complaints all in a single location with no wait, so patients receive the smart, simple and stress-free care they deserve. Our flagship center is on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, with a second center in Tribeca and a Hamptons service that runs during the summer.

We now serve over 3,500+ members and have an extraordinarily high renewal rate, because we treat everyone like family and go the extra mile in an often inefficient industry. We are a fast-growing, VC-backed organization that is rapidly expanding across the country. We are looking for energetic and passionate self-starters who are excited about healthcare and want to raise the standards for excellent emergency and urgent care.

Your responsibilities
Sollis is expanding into the LA market and will be establishing our first medical center in Beverly Hills. We are looking for a talented, ambitious medical leader to build out our Los Angeles practice.

This role will oversee all medical operations in the LA practice and work closely with the local Head of Operations as well as the management team in HQ. It requires a strong blend of medical expertise, clinical management skills, and the ability to sell/promote an exciting new medical service.

Specifically, your duties will include:

  • Establish Sollis as LA’s premier medical destination for high-end emergent and urgent care:
    • Educate LA primary care physicians about Sollis
    • Get PCPs to commit to sending Sollis patient referrals
    • Create a network of specialists in major medical specialties (neuro, ortho, cardio, etc) who we can rely on to take our patients as specialist referrals are needed
    • Cement relationships with major local hospitals, including Cedars Sinai, UCLA & others
    • Establish a network of radiology partners who can read images on-demand with fast turnaround times
  • Patient Care – The Medical Director serves as the chief medical lead of the practice, taking on a set number of clinical shifts to care for patients, especially when the practice is first established. Over time, the roster of doctors working in the practice will increase and the MD’s clinical shifts will decrease, but this is first and foremost a patient care role, and the Medical Director will always be expected to keep a certain number of clinical shifts to ensure they are fully baked into all aspects of care.
  • Care coordination – Ensure patients receive the follow up care they need after the clinic visit, building out a full Care Navigation team beneath you in time.
  • Training – Working in conjunction with HQ and the Practice Manager, ensure ongoing medical training sessions keep clinicians compliant with Sollis medical procedures, that wait times are kept short, and that patients receive the highest standards of care.
  • Radiology & Lab management – Working closely with the Practice Manager, ensure that our patients have 24/7 access to all imaging modalities (XRay, CT, MRI, ultrasound) as well as our full suite of lab tests, with little to no wait for both the procedures and reads/results.
  • Hiring & team building – Work closely with the Practice Director to hire a team of doctors, PA, Nurses, X-ray Technicians/MA, and care coordination staff to serve our patient base.
  • Scheduling – Work closely with the Practice Director to create a coverage schedule that ensures our patients can access medical services 24/7/365 (plus housecalls)
  • Build the practice, then manage it day to day – This is a job that will evolve over time. Since we are building the practice from scratch, at first the MD role will center around clinic creation – setting up a new clinical space, creating strong networks of physician partners, generating referrals from PCPs, hiring the right medical team, putting all medical procedures in place, and ensuring excellent communication among the teams and departments. Over 12-24 months as the practice grows and stabilizes, the role will transition into day to day management, with a focus on ensuring exceptional medical care for patients. The ideal candidate will be able to excel during both phases of the business, and will shape the practice’s evolution from startup to steady state.

The ideal candidate will possess the following background:

  • Highly skilled ER physician who has spent significant time working in emergency departments, urgent care centers or a concierge medical practice
  • Previous management experience within a medical team or division, with strong track record of getting things done
  • Strong network in the LA medical community, to facilitate selling/promoting the Sollis offering
  • Has a passion for engineering efficiency and a better care model in the healthcare space
  • Understanding of the concierge medical space preferred

To be successful in this role, candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • First and foremost, the Medical Director must be an exceptional ER doctor with fantastic clinical skills and a warm bedside manner
  • Entrepreneurial nature, excited to build a pioneering healthcare delivery model
  • Above and beyond customer service ethic
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally among departments and teams
  • Strong selling skills and the ability to promote Sollis and elevate our brand among the medical community
  • Ownership and accountability – a “buck stops here” attitude, happy to take ownership for medical projects and problems and make sure they are executed to the highest standards
  • Strong technical and systems skills a plus – ability to manage performance management software, compliance databases, and simple financial models.
  • Career-oriented individual, searching for unlimited opportunities
  • Ability to think and work independently, effectively, and efficiently as if running your own business
  • Ambitious, strong work ethic, and open to new ideas
