Monkeypox?
Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic infection typically endemic in West and Central Africa, but we are seeing outbreaks in the United States. Smallpox and monkeypox come from the same Orthopoxvirus genus, but smallpox has a significantly higher mortality rate than monkeypox.
In order to preserve the safety of our members and in-center providers, Sollis offers this treatment in a house call setting to all New York and LA members
According to the CDC, monkeypox can spread to anyone through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact, including:
- Direct contact with monkeypox rash, scabs, or body fluids from a person with monkeypox
- Touching objects, fabrics, and surfaces that have been used by someone with monkeypox
- Contact with respiratory secretions
- A pregnant person can spread the virus to their fetus through the placenta
- Intimate contact
Classically, the rash begins with a fever, swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches, and headaches. However, the most recent reported cases began with a pox-like rash in the genitals or rectal region and can appear on other areas like the hands, feet, chest, face, or mouth.
