Robyn Berkley

Dealing with chronic stomach issues isn’t something you’d ever hope for. But for Robyn Berkley, it was the portal to a world of wellness, which ultimately inspired her to create a fashion brand focused on self-care and mindfulness. The publicist-turned-yogi opens up about her healing journey, the doctors who stood in the way, and reveals the person who can help us the most: ourselves.

What is Live The Process?

Live The Process is a wellness ready-to-wear brand that transcends the prism of style, guiding women on a self-care trip to an elevated sense of ease through constant evolution and higher-consciousness.

What made you start it?

I wanted to merge my passions: fashion, yoga (being active in general), healing, nutrition, and connecting people. After my yoga training ended, I knew I was ready for a challenge, something that would be larger than me as a person. I wanted to create a collective voice on communicating an overall concept that focused on something that was both tangible with product, but offered content focusing on higher-consciousness through all I experienced. We are all living our own process—it’s universal. Wellness wasn’t such a thing when I started, and I wanted to bring both beauty and a visually meditative approach to activewear and healing. Something that had never been done before. It would be feminine, soft, but strong and a place to escape and hopefully see something beautiful and learn as well.

“We are all living our own process. You are your own healer.”

When did your stomach issues start?

From birth.

How did they change and escalate?

As I got older and life got more complicated and stressful, so did my stomach issues.

How often did you seek medical care for the issues?

Teens and onwards until my mid-twenties. Then I met someone who was a clinical nutritionist, herbalist, and homeopathic doctor.

What were the appointments like, and what kind of responses did you get?

You are healthy, nothing is wrong with you, all of your blood results look good, why don’t you try this or that? None of it worked and my issues just worsened. They spoke nothing of nutrition or healing paths through other modalities. I was just being prescribed and they hoped whatever was happening would go away on its own. There was no connection to body and mind. They were separate entities.

Where else did you look for information to help deal with your problems?

Through books and the internet. And I met someone when I was 26 that would change my life forever. He was a clinical nutritionist that was also an herbalist and focused on healing modalities that I was not familiar with. He opened a whole new door to how I care for myself. Doctors are important, but prevention is just as important, and doctors are not taught any of this in medical school unfortunately. We live in a society where you are prescribed drugs to “get rid” of what is wrong.

How can Sollis support you on your medical journey?

Instead of having to sift through dozens of doctor reviews on Yelp to try and figure who’s going to actually care about you and whether or not they have the naturopathic services you need, Sollis does it all for you. Plus you can get tested right on-site, in a warm atmosphere that doesn’t feel cold and uninviting.

When did you start doing yoga, and what is your practice like today?

I took my first yoga class when I was 13. It came back into my life in college and then following I became more attached to practicing. It was the tool that really helped me with anxiety and just life. The breath and postures, as for most, started as physical and became so spiritual and true to who I am today. I really rely on my practice and it changed my world. I do classes now four times a week and have my own practice at home.

What kind of naturopathic and herbal modalities did you use?

All kinds. My goal was to rebuild my system, so I probably cleansed all organs over the course of 10 years. It was quite intense at times but I slowly started to feel better, and it was a long road. Nothing compares to how I felt for all of those years and all of that work-built knowledge. I healed using Ayurveda, different types of massage, acupuncture, colonics, energy healing, crystal healing, cupping, reflexology, herbs, tonics, and of course all different types of detoxes and nutrition-based healing. The list goes on, but I am sure you get the gist.

How do they help you?

They keep my body and mind in check. I am sensitive and feel everything. It has been a blessing and curse.

How do your stomach issues manifest today?

They are still there but manageable. I know what to do if something were to get out of sorts and have good people to speak to and rely on. But stress and the energy of others are the big triggers.

What did you learn from this experience?

You are your own healer.
